HumaneCNY expanded their adoption facility on West Taft Road after 50 years of dedication to finding homes for abandoned and homeless animals throughout the region. The local not-for-profit animal shelter was ready to bid the construction project for their kennel expansion almost two years ago, with previous drawings completed by an out-of-town architect. When the original set of bids came in, it was to their surprise that they were not sensitive to their budgetary, design or programmatic needs.

IPD Engineering worked with VIP and their team of designers, estimators and performed a thorough investigation to understand their needs and determine a solution to move the project forward.

We value engineered the previous design, including altering material selections, improving inefficiencies in plans and creating a more fluid construction schedule. This resulted in a revised design, which significantly reduced the cost of the project and was truer to HumaneCNY’s needs.
